Burlington County reaches from Delaware River communities and established suburbs into farmland, forests, and the Pinelands. Housing ranges from historic rowhouses and older borough homes to townhouses, postwar neighborhoods, newer subdivisions, and properties on larger wooded or agricultural lots. I-295, the New Jersey Turnpike, Routes 38, 70, 73, and 130, and NJ Transit's River Line shape travel through the more developed western side of the county. Historic town centers, the Rancocas Creek, Smithville Park, county farm and parkland, and access to the Pine Barrens give the county both metropolitan connections and substantial open space.
